Bear-ly Wednesday

More bears are finished. I got three bears from an old pair of wool hunting pants.  Which was really nice heavy fabric to work with; well once I washed it so it would stop giving me a rash. (April has been a bad allergy month all around.) Since they were from hunting pants I figured they needed to have hunting vests too.

Random craftiness

little bear test

Last week flew by followed by a busy weekend. Spring is arriving fast these days. The hens have gone into high production after taking the winter off. The robins are back; and the deer are out in force eating the new grass and getting ready for babies.
The baby goats are at a farm on the other side of the hill from us. They've had nine kids in the last four days. Mom and I went and fawned all over them. Drank goat's milk and ate far too much Dill Chevre while we were there.  By the time we had made it home we'd mentally redesigned the barn for goat housing and a small milking parlor.  It was a lovely afternoon with the goats but I think for now we'll be visiting them when we go to get fresh cheese.

On Sunday we had Easter with friends and sat in the sun on the deck. It was glorious!

Bear Update

Ten more bears done. Yay! I thought the more I did, the more uniform they would come out; but each one is so different. Something about how the heads are sewn. Ears make a big difference too. I have no idea why the brown guys all look so surprised. Must be the lighter eye buttons.  They look like they've just seen a mouse.  I think these guys may need bow ties.

Bearing up

So J (of the fancy pants sock monkey) cleaned out her attic and found her Grandmother's guilt and some of her father's shirts. "How about Teddy Bears for the whole family?" Brilliant! What a lovely idea. Everyone in her large family will have a little piece of a family heirloom.
Wait --- I've never made a bear. You want 25 bears for next Christmas? You want them to have move-able arms?
After much time on the internet looking at patterns--- here's the first batch. The little guys are tests for a little bear out of a wedding suit. So far they don't look much like bears.

Fun Fact : I curse more when at the sewing machine then any other time. Even using the big hammer.

So far this project is rolling along fairly well. Although I have noticed on the days when I'm sewing heads, strange items do turn up in the refrigerator more often.
