Mom's Pie

Over Mother's Day weekend I made pies. Mom is a berry pie fiend and has been known to plan road trips and rambles around pie shops. So an Apple and a Black Berry pie were the order of the day. I find rolling out pie dough a rather meditative procedure. Dust the board, roll, turn dough, roll. My mind wandered off to Grandma. A farm wife who never served a meal without a proper dessert, usually pie. How many pies had she created over the years.  Probably thousands. She could mix the dough from memory and never suffered tough crust. I use Ina Garten's recipe. It seems to be fool proof for me. Easy to work and always flaky and good.
